NIGERIA'S BIGGEST MUSIC LABEL: MAVIN RECORDS

                     

              Mavin Records also known as the "Dorobucci Clan" or " Supreme Mavin Dynasty" is a Nigerian record label founded by Nigeria's music mogul, recording artiste and a record producer established on 8 May, 2012. The record label inception came into being after the dissolution of Mo'Hits Records. It is a place called home for many artistes like Tiwa Savage, Dr SID, D'prince, Korede Bello, Reekado Banks, Di'Ja, Rema and so many other artiste. There is no incertitude that Mavin Records is the power house of music in Africa.The label also houses producers such as Jazzy himself, Altims and Baby Fresh. In the year 2014,DJ'Big N became the label's official disc jockey. Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, Reekado Banks and Iyanya were all formerly signed to Mavin records. On May 8, 2012, the label released its compilation album Solar Plexus. In January 2019, the record secured a multi-million dollar investment from Kupanda Holdings, a subsidiary of Kupanda Capital and TPG Growth.

1. The record label was established as a result of the departure of the aforementioned producer, Don Jazzy and D'banj from Mo'Hits Records.

2. Mavin Records launched its official website in May 7, 2012.

3.The compilation album that was released featured all of the Dorobucci crew members.

4. In 2013, Wande Coal parted ways with Mavin records and established his own label, Black Diamond Entertainment.

Anterior to commenting on D'banj's exit from Mo'Hits, there were allegations that D'banj signed over Mo'Hits to Don Jazzy. In an interview with Sunday Punch, Don Jazzy addressed D'banj's departure from Mo'Hits saying,"we were working together and all was going on well. But it got to a point where i looked at the situation and we both decided that it was not working and we had to move on". Don Jazzy alluded to being hesitant to a name change.

        Upon establishing the rebranded record label, Don Jazzy said he sees Mavin Records as the power house of music in Africa in the shortest possible time. After rebranding Mo'Hits to Mavin records, Don Jazzy signed Tiwa Savage. Pulse Nigeria reported that Don Jazzy admires the singer's ethic and drive.

        On May 7, the label launched its social networking site designed to cater for their fans worldwide. Within a year of becoming a revamped brand, the record label released" Take Banana" an "Oma Ga" as singles from iis debut compilation album Solar Plexus. In  February 2014, Mavin records signed Di'Ja, Reekado Banks and Korede Bello a week after each other. Om May 1, 2014, Mavin Records released the hit single, "Dorobucci" to critical plaudit.

        On October 31, 2016, several media in Nigeria reported that Iyanya signed a record label deal with Mavin records. Both Iyanya and Don Jazzy confirmed the report on Instagram. On February 28,2017, Don Jazzy announced the signing of Johnny Drille, Ladipoe and DNA to Mavin Records. In March 2019, he also announced the signing of Rema to Mavin. Om May 31, Mavin unveiled the signing of Crayon. The next day, the record label released the collaborative single,"All is in order".

     The record label is popularly known for its best artistes that it has produced. In conclusion, Mavin records is one of the best and fastest growing music label in Nigeria.
